Forgiveness — A Poem

Never have I tasted words so sweet
As those your mouth refused to keep
When all my apologies are sung
Tell me, again, where I went wrong
For you now choose to hold the key
To relinquish this pain eternally
And I struggle with strong regret
Knowing we’ve changed through seeds sewn
Still you refuse to let things go
I beseech this final gift to fret
Please open your heart and forgive
For we have so much left yet to live
